About Me
Hi there!
My name is Katelyn Pipes. I am thrilled you are visiting my online portfolio. I would love to tell you a little bit about myself and my family.
I'm an East Texas native. My passion for teaching began when I started volunteering at summer children's' camps throughout my high school career. Each summer, I would spend the month of June in the hot Texas sun running games, interacting with campers, and bonding with the recreational staff. For five years, these summer camps became the highlight of my year. I loved watching the campers' faces light up. Knowing that my hard work and dedication gave them the best week of their life at camp was so rewarding. My favorite part about these camps was building relationships with campers and seeing them return each year. This experience ultimately led me to become a teacher.

In 2015, I moved to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Tarleton State University. Choosing Tarleton for my undergraduate studies is one of the best decisions I made. My professors truly provided me with excellent training and field experiences to prepare me for my career as a teacher. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-6 and ESL certifications in December of 2017. Additionally, I graduated from the Tarleton Honor's College as an Applied Learning Experience Recognized graduate.

In the Spring of 2023, I started my Master's in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling. My time teaching young students taught me the importance of social-emotional and mental health for not only my students, but their families as well. I hope to work as a Licensed Marriage, Family, and Couples Therapist after graduation.

I reside in East Texas with my two daughters: Finley (age 6) and Elliott (age 4). I have spent the past three years teaching students across the globe and tutoring in-person. I have taught Kindergarten most recently for the past two years and have loved watching my students grow and learn as scholars and little humans.
